A Delightful Rendezvous

"This is important: to get to know people, listen, expand the circle of ideas. The world is crisscrossed by roads that come closer together and move apart, but the important thing is that they lead towards the Good." Pope Francis

The yearning for spiritual renewal, the longing for rejuvenating life, the many years of the absence of gatherings and the excitement of meeting companions and peers created warmth and excitement for the get-together. The meeting of confederates from both provinces imprinted an unerasable mark on the hearts of everyone.

The tertianship gathering took place in Bangalore from 22.05.2023 to 27.05.2023; eighteen from Bhubaneswar and twenty-one from Visakhapatnam province participated in the unforgettable event. The sessions began with a welcome prayer service that contributed to an atmosphere for spiritual revival. Accepting the changes during the transition period was a constant reminder from Fr. Simon Antony SJ, the moderator of the gathering. The words of Pope Francis, "We will never be disillusioned or lose our way if God guides us", proved to be true in all, as each recalled and shared the precious vocation story that simultaneously enabled all to introspect and uphold the high ideals of the total and irrevocable commitment to Jesus. The fundamentals of religious life, prayer, community life and the living of the evangelical counsels and the importance and difficulties that all face were mentioned.

The novelist and poet Charlotte Bronte says, "Happiness quite unshared can scarcely be called happiness; it has no taste." The joy of spiritual sharing was complete with humour, fun and joyous laughter with all. Indeed, it was a delightful rendezvous with God, companions and peers that further revitalised spiritual apathy, enlightened all with the transitional changes, and nurtured our zeal.

All expressed unending gratitude to God and extended sincere thanks to the respective General, Rev. Sr. Breda and her counselors. Sr. Rose and Rev. Sr. Leena and their counsellors for being generous in meticulously organising this program for the growth and wellbeing of all the tertians. The moderator's final solemn Eucharistic blessing concluded the five-day sessions, and all went for an impressive and memorable three-day trip.

In conclusion, we would all like to keep in mind and move on with the words of Pope Francis "We received this world as an inheritance from past generations, but also as a loan from future generations, to whom we will have to return it!"
