Sisters of Saint Joseph of Annecy

JUBILEE CELEBRATION AND MEETING WITH OUR BISHOP

We celebrated the Jubilee of our sisters on the 12th of October 2023, at « Le Grand Chêne » Home for the aged, Vieugy.

Three events took place:

The first meeting with our new bishop, Mgr Yves Le Saux
The Jubilee of six Sisters
The missioning of the new Delegation team

Most of the sisters of the Delegation were present for this event. Even the sisters in the home for the aged and who are on wheelchairs were able to participate.

First meeting with our new bishop, Mgr Le Saux
It was a joy for all of us to be together and to listen to our Bishop.
Sister Tessy, who is our Delegate, welcomed Mgr Le Saux ; she gave him a brief presentation of our Congregation and of the Delegation of France. After that, she invited him to speak.

In September, our Bishop published his first pastoral letter, titled "The Joy of Being Saved", after a year of getting to know our region and the diocese.

In his letter, he invited us to « be missionaries of trust ». That's the invitation to each one of us today.

Here are the things he discovered in the diocese:
 The region is rich in material terms due to its geographical closeness to Switzerland, but at the same time there are many situations of poverty that are often hidden.
 Young people lack roots and no longer make long-term commitments: they commit themselves for a short time.
 More and more young adults and teenagers are asking to be baptised. This means that the Christians must commit themselves to support these catechumens and to develop a relationship with them.

He invited the Christians to make an effort to conversion. Our world has changed, the Church has changed. It's important to be open to new ways of life, to welcome new ways of expressing our faith, and to allow ourselves to be challenged by what's new.
He also suggested that every Christian should celebrate the anniversary of his or her baptism.

The Jubilarians
• Sister Anne Marie Vullioud : 80 years of religious life
• Sister Anne Félicie Coissard and Sister Blanche Marie Pochat : 70 years of religious life
• Sister Marie Louise Vulliez, Sister Martina Gmünder and Sister Marie Claude Burdet : 50 years of religious life

The Eucharistic celebration, which was celebrated by Mgr Le Saux and two other priests, was full of joy and thanksgiving for the free gift of God and His faithfulness.

During the homily, he commented on St Paul's words:
« Who can separate us from the love of Christ ? »
Mgr Le Saux emphasized on the need to trust in God's mercy.

During the offertory, the Jubilarians renewed their vows and sang :

I come to you with open hands
With my hunger I offer you my life
You come to me with open hands
With this bread offer me your life.

The simple and festive celebration ended with the Magnificat !

Then we had a festive meal with joy and friendly get-together.

Missioning of the Delegation team
In the afternoon, the Superior General and her Councillors invited the sisters to gather in the chapel for the missioning of the Delegation team.

The service began by a gratitude adressed to sister Marie Louise Vulliez for her two terms as Delegate and for the services she rendered to the Congregation.

Then they proceeded with the missioning of our new Delegation team: Delegate Sister Tessy Thekkedath, Councillors Sister Raymonde Marie Bulloz and Anila Botta, Bursar Sister Marie Paule Vaillant.

After the missiioning, we welcomed our new Delegation team members with a song of thanksgiving.

The day ended with a snack, in a spirit of joy and festivity.
